The odd mathematics of the open road

Source

The open road,
a moon
within
driving distance,
where gravity
loses its
pull
and I lighten
with each
mile.

The open road,
an equation
of subtraction,
where
x = life
and the
resulting number
of burdens
and worries
decreases
as pavement
increases
in the
rear view
mirror.

The open road,
an odd sort of
alchemical math,
that
changes
the self
of the past
into
the self
of
dreaming.
